Kate Marsden

I keep coming across references to Fellows of the RGS in my reading, and where relevant I shall develop those connections here.

I recently read the excellent 'Extreme North' by Bernd Brunner and in it he talks about Kate Marsden.

She was a missionary and explorer, who explored Siberia looking for a cure for leprosy.

Atlas Obscura suggests she had a scandalous life. But she was also a Fellow of the RGS.
