RSGS - a new medal

A few weeks ago, the RSGS awarded a new medal to the person who it is named after.

It is called the Kirsty Wark Medal.

The new medal, which is awarded for excellence in communications, arts and creative contributions to geography, “is designed to acknowledge those who strive to reach the head, the heart and the soul in the way they communicate” commented RSGS Chief Executive Mike Robinson.

“People who are exemplary in the arts and recognise how fundamental communication is to everything we do. We also wanted to name it after someone contemporary, who embodies the very best of communication, so we are delighted to award the first new medal that the society has had in a very long time, named after Kirsty Wark, one of the leading contemporary Scottish communicators of our age.”

I'm also honoured to be an RSGS medallist (although i don't mention it much).

I was awarded the Tivy Education Medal in 2013.
The most recent recipient is Dr. Catherine Souch from the RGS.
