Michael Palin was the GA President between 2009 and 2012. This was during the time when the 2nd phase of the Action Plan for Geography happened and I was working for the GA.
I've flicked through the book as I knew that this was covering the time when he became President of the RGS, so there was likely to be some mention of the RGS.
There was an entry towards the end of the book where he describes a meeting about him potentially becoming President of the RGS. I didn't look further, and it comes towards the very end, so the next volume of diaries will certainly feature a lot of the events that he participated in, and the work of the RGS.
I was going to wait until the main interest in the book ends, and get myself a cheaper copy (my local bookshop: Topping of Ely had signed copies) and then catch up with the mentions. However, I have a cheap offer from Audible which I've taken up - 99p for 3 months, after which I will cancel again, and now have a copy of the book and audio version.
I've fast forwarded to 2008 and 2009, when Palin took over as President, and there are some interesting things happening already in there... so more on this to come in a future post perhaps.
