Young Geographer of the Year Awards 2024

I had a lovely time down at the RGS yesterday... it was a lovely start with a glorious red sunrise over the Fens.
Through Knightsbridge and the Rutland Estate - my preferred route via the 'hole in the wall' to the RGS. In through the Kensington Gore entrance for a change.

I was asked to go along and hand out the prizes at the Award ceremony for the Young Geographer of the Year competition in my capacity as Vice President: Education.
This annual competition is organised by the Education team at the RGS-IBG and receives hundreds of entries.

I chatted to the winners and their parents, and we had an interesting talk from Jonny Riggall on his career pathway and how he used his geography in his work supporting organisations with their sustainability. I handed out the prizes and had lots of photos taken with the winners and then lunch, and a tour of the Society had been organised for them.

Some more official photos and other details will be emerging next week, and I will update this post when they do.

If you are in the area, also go and see the artworks in the current Shark exhibition in the Pavilion on Exhibition Road called Oceanic 31. I missed Steve Backshall by a few hours apparently.
