1980 saw the 150th anniversary of the RGS with a special event

There was a gathering of a great many dignitaries at this occasion, including the Duke of Kent.

President at the time Lord Hunt was one of many to address the gathering. In doing, so he referenced previous Presidents, including several who were also Presidents of the GA.


 This was followed by a speech from the then Secetary of State for Education.
