One of the organisations that the RGS works with is the RSGS. The RSGS was founded in 1884.
Their vision is "Promoting geographical understanding of people, places and the planet."
Its HQ is in Perth - a fine building. Mike Robinson the Chief Executive was recently presented with an OBE for his work in Climate Change Education.
Their last strategic plan ended in 2022. In 2024, they announced that they were working on a new strategic plan with the working title "A Community of Geography".
Mike Robinson recently said at the AGM there was a good relationship with the RGS, but not much overlap. He said that RGS-IBG was focused on London/England/Wales, while RSGS was focused on Scotland/international; we were sharing ideas and spoke regularly.
