The RGS has a huge collection of films in its Collections. These join many other items in different formats, from images to books to papers and communications going back almost 200 years.
Some of these were made many decades ago, and capture historic events and expeditions.
Many of them have now been digitised and made them available free of charge on the BFI Player.
They include records of some significant RGS-supported expedition including the 1953 ascent of Everest.
