An opportunity to receive specialist training in how to use audio to document an expedition or research trip.

Do you want to learn how to tell the story of your next geographical journey, fieldwork project or research expedition using audio recorded in the field?

The Society is pleased to announce a new programme, Journey in audio, offering professional training and high-quality equipment to enable you to document your travel, fieldwork and research expeditions.

The in-person, hands-on training course for a small group will be led by a professional audio producer and take place at the Society in London in spring 2025.

The cost of the training, loan of equipment (including a licence for digital audio production software), and feedback is covered in full, alongside a financial contribution towards travel and accommodation to attend the course in London.

There will also be the opportunity for resulting audio to be shared through the Society’s channels.

Places on the programme are limited. The deadline for application is Friday 31 January 2025.
